Mazarin Cooking Fest
Annual Mazarin Cooking fest was an exhilarating and invigorating event organized by the clubM VPs held on Thursday the 14th of June 2011 at Mazarin premises.
Initially two teams were formed by drawing lots. Thereafter they were notified on the menu requirements, allocated budget and rating criterion ahead of time. The menu was to include an appetizer, a side dish, desert, drink along with the main meal. The teams had to come-up with their own recipes for each category. On the day of the fest, the two teams set out shopping to get back with the groceries.
It was a tough competition as the teams had to prepare the meals while focusing on the time, taste and presentation aspects. The teams had to ensure that the food was cooked, prepared, laid out in a presentable manner and the work stations were cleaned within 3 hours. Thus it was essential that they pre-planned every trivial task. It seemed as the teams had allocated different roles for each member. Therefore it was evident that each person was clear and conscious of what they had to do within the team. It was inspiring to see the work break down and role allocation among team members.
After a tight battle of the new chefs for three hours the table was laid down. It was impressive to see the talent in the teams. Both teams successfully completed the entire challenge within the stipulated time frame. The presentation of the food was impeccable, and tantalizing our taste buds. The judges had to make a tough decision in picking a winner.
This event was a great opportunity to enhance team working within the company and it also divulged the culinary skills within us. The Mazarin Cooking fest 2011 was an exciting and memorable event for all Mazarins.
